• About Me

Here's a quick outline of who I am, so you can decide if you want to get in touch.

  • Hello, I’m Charlie: an experienced and (UK) qualified psychotherapist providing counselling in Zurich and online.

Experience: I have been working with clients for over eight years. I worked for two mental-health services in London for over five years, both as a counsellor and as a senior assessor. I've been working in private practice for over four years, supporting a wide spectrum of clients through their challenges to reshape their lives.

Qualifications: I hold an MA and Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy & Counselling, following a seven-year programme at the Minster Centre - the pioneers of Integrative Psychotherapy in the UK. I am in clinical supervision and undertake regular training. Both ensure my clients benefit from my continuous professional development.

Registration: I am a registered member of both of the the UK’s national accrediting bodies. I am accredited by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), and a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I also hold an enhanced DBS clearance. This means I work responsibly in accordance with professionally recognised standards.
Professional title: In the UK, my training and accreditation mean that I work as a recognised Psychotherapist. Because of differences between Swiss and UK accreditation, I am working in Switzerland under the title of 'Counsellor' in accordance with Swiss legislation. I am in the process of registering with the SGfB; the Swiss Association for Psychosocial Counselling.
Fees / Health Insurance / Referral routes: As a counsellor, my fees are not covered by Swiss healthcare providers. This also means that we can work together directly, without the necessity of a referral from your famliy doctor, hospital or a psychologist / psychiatrist.

Career: Previously, I worked for almost twenty years in security roles within government and the corporate sector, both in the UK and in conflict-zones abroad. I recognise the impact that high-pressure jobs, exposure to trauma and returning home can have upon our mental health and relationships. I have a particular interest in supporting those with similar experience: whether in the aid / development, media, medical, military or security sectors.

Perspective: I know first-hand (from both chairs) what it takes to recognise when things don’t feel right, reach out for support and put in the work to change. I’m confident that counselling can enable all of us to develop and enjoy more manageable, satisfying lives.
